Second Graders Discover Our Garden
Students in second grade started to discover how the FMA garden has changed since last year! They examined some of the herbs, vegetables, and fruits they had planted last year, and discovered that some had grown while others had disappeared! Students were thrilled to find out where new plants had been moved in the garden, and where old ones still remained. They reminded each other how to be respectful in the garden - walk, touch gently with two fingers, and be kind to all plants. Some students found some fallen plants and were excited to explore and touch other plants in the garden. We are thankful for Ms. Erin who cleaned up the garden and are excited to work more in the garden in our upcoming Science Soils unit!
Parent Reminders
- Your child is tardy if she arrives after 8AM. If your child arrives after 8AM please have her come to the office to sign in and get a pass to enter the classroom.
- Please, do not call the office to make changes to bus or pickup during the last 45 minutes of the school day; it is extremely difficult to fulfill requests at the end of the day.
- Please utilize the designated drop off-pick up parking spots in the AM and PM. Please do not double park; it often blocks buses and trucks as well as neighbors and others parked in legal spots.
- Please pick up all walkers, grades 1-5 from the gym and not the classrooms. Children in PK, JK, and K will be picked up from the classroom.
- When dismissing a child before the end of the day, first stop at the office to sign your child out. Please do not go directly to the classroom to pick up.
FMA Fourth Graders Visit Maynard Ecology Center
On September 28, 2016, my class and I, with Mrs. Martin went to the Maynard Ecology Center in Fresh Pond. To get there we all took a bus and the bus was buzzing with excitement. When we finally got there we met Ms. Agger a teacher at the Maynard Ecology Center. When we were all unpacked and ready to start the day we had a lesson by Ms. Agger in the classroom. The lesson was mostly a review because Coach evan had taught us most of the science including, weathering, erosion, and deposition. He taught us that weathering was the process of breaking down earth’s surface with water or wind, erosion was the process of moving the weathered things around with water or wind, and deposition was the process of keeping the weathered and eroded things in place with water or wind. Singing "El Burrito" in Music Class
Second graders learned a Spanish language game song known as EL Burrito. They enjoyed putting food in the basket and seeing how many items the donkey could carry to the market.
Students reviewed their melodic elements and taught themselves the game songs in September.
All students are back in the swing of things. Please remember to have your child wear comfortable shoes on music days.
Get Well Soon, Ms. Hayes-Harrison!
