Welcome Back!
Dear Fletcher Maynard Academy Families,
On behalf of the faculty and staff, welcome to the Fletcher Maynard Academy, a place where we all are committed to building and nurturing a community of caring citizens who are life-long learners. If you are returning to FMA, you already know our school is a vibrant community where students, parents, and staff join together to create a wonderful learning environment. To those students and parents who are new to the Fletcher Maynard we extend a warm welcome and best wish for an exciting and productive year in your new school. We hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in the activities of our school. With the first day of school, September 6th (1st-5th grades) and September 8th (preschool, junior kindergarten and kindergarten) fast approaching, it is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you, as part of our educational family, to another school year.
We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
- Attends school daily (please call school if absent, followed by written notification)
- Arrives on time, school begins at 7:45AM, students are late after 8AM
- Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
- Reads 20 minutes daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
- Wears school uniform daily
We invite you to become an active participant in the FMA community through volunteering, joining the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) or Spanish Program Parent Organization (SPO), participating in our Courageous Conversation about Race and Class, joining the adult Spanish class or attending and supporting school events. Research clearly supports that when parents/guardians participate and are involved in their child’s education, there is a greater likelihood of academic success for the child.
As always our goal at FMA is to provide all students with the opportunity to excel in academics, athletics, and fine arts so that they may become positive, contributing members of our school and community. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to give me a call at school 617.349.6591 or on my cell phone 617.201.7817. I look forward to working with you this school year. Let’s make it the best year ever!
Sincerely,
Robin Harris
