Public Comment [Regular School Committee Meetings]

Individuals must sign up in advance to provide public comment for the Regular Meetings. The sign-up window is Friday morning prior to the meeting date. The registration window for online and by phone is detailed below.

To Register for Public Comment:

• ONLINE: You may register through the School Committee Portal Website. The Public Comment Registration button is available 48 hours before the scheduled meeting. Registration closes at 5:30PM on the day of the meeting.
• BY PHONE: Call the School Committee office at 617.349.6620 by 12PM on the day of the meeting, and leave a message with your name and phone number.

Submit Public Comment

• BY EMAIL: To email the entire School Committee, send your message to: SchoolCom@cpsd.us. Public comments via email must be received prior to the start of the meeting.

You may register to participate in public comment via Zoom, however because regular meetings are held in-person please be aware of the following procedures for remote participation:

• Find the link to the meeting on the School Committee Portal Website.
• During the Public Comment section of the agenda, your name will be called by the School Committee. You will have up to *three minutes to provide your comment.
  • *Based on the number of registrants, your comment may be limited to two minutes.
• All public comment participants will remain muted until called upon by the Mayor. In-person registrants will be called first, followed by virtual registrants, with both groups called in the order of their sign-up time.
• While awaiting their turn to speak, virtual participants should rely on the Zoom or telephone audio to hear their name be called, as there may be a slight delay in the livestream or broadcast. In Zoom, you will be promoted to a panelist which will allow you to participate in the meeting. When your name is called, please mute your computer or television to prevent an echo from being broadcast into the virtual meeting chambers.
• After the public comment period, the participant Zoom “room” will close, and you can watch as a Zoom attendee. Alternatively, you can watch the rest of the meeting through the online livestream or on Cambridge Educational Access TV (CEATV) Channel 26.

Participating in a Subcommittee Meeting
Public comment during subcommittee meetings is at the discretion of the subcommittee chair.
Registration for public comment opens once the public meeting notice, with the meeting topic, has been posted—no later than 48 hours before the meeting.

• BY PHONE: Call the School Committee office at 617.349.6620 by 12PM on the day of the meeting, and leave a message with your name and phone number.
