David Weinstein

DAVID J. WEINSTEIN is the proud parent of a Cambridge Public Schools student and a recent CPS graduate, and the proud product of the public schools of Greenburgh, New York. He is serving his third term on the Cambridge School Committee. Member Weinstein began his career in education as a full-time certified classroom teacher in public schools in Massachusetts and New York, teaching both art and English in grades K-12. He has also worked with children with special learning needs and as a substitute teacher at the New York School for the Deaf. Before being elected to the School Committee, Member Weinstein served as a parent representative on the Graham and Parks School Steering Committee and on CPSD principal and teacher hiring committees. 

He has more than 20 years of curriculum development, communications, and project management experience in K-12 schools, nonprofits, and higher education. As Assistant Director of ENACT: The Educational Network for Active Civic Transformation, Member Weinstein has guided and grown a 50-state, nonpartisan civic education program based at Brandeis University that teaches college students how to be effective, engaged citizens at the state legislative level. Member Weinstein has a B.A. in American Studies from Wesleyan University, where he also completed the undergraduate Educational Studies Program, and an Ed.M from the Harvard Graduate School of Education focused on teaching and learning, educational policy, and teacher leadership.
