CPS Colloquium
In August, we celebrate the new school year by bringing together all CPS staff from across the district for our annual Colloquium. Together, we reflect on the last year and look forward to welcoming students and families back for another exciting academic year.
Our 2026 Colloquium was devoted to reflecting upon and deepening our commitment to family partnerships and family engagement. Together, our educators, administrators, and staff:
- Heard from nationally-renowned keynote speaker, Dr. Shadae Harris, about the work of improving educational experiences through family partnerships.
- Participated in panel discussions with more than a dozen CPS caregivers about the impact of family engagement across grade levels.
- Engaged in school- and program-specific professional learning and training to prepare for the new school year.
As we embark on this new academic year, we know how critically important it will be to build and maintain trust in our relationships with the families of our students. With partnerships grounded in trust, and through authentic and reciprocal discourse providing space for caregivers to communicate their hopes and expectations for their children, we will establish a more equitable environment that leads to deep and meaningful learning for all students.
