Calendar Change: Wednesday, March 18 Now a Regular School Day

Calendar

On Wednesday, March 4, Superintendent Murphy announced changes to the district calendar impacting Wednesday, March 18.

Due to four weather-related school cancellations this winter, the following change has been made to the district calendar:

  • Wednesday, March  18, will be a regular school day for all students and staff (previously scheduled as a Professional Development Day/no school). All schools will follow a normal Wednesday schedule.
    • There will be NO DHSP preschool or afterschool programming on Wednesday, March 18
    • For staff, this will be considered an “EDC Day.”
  • The last day of school is scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2026.

This change will ensure students finish the year at a reasonable date while meeting state instructional requirements.

On Wednesday, March 18, bus routes will not change. K-8 Families with students who typically attend afterschool programs on Wednesdays are advised to:

  • Plan to pick up their student from school at Wednesday dismissal time.
    • Families must notify their student’s school that their student(s) will not take the bus as soon as possible; otherwise, they will be placed on their usual afternoon bus.
  • Plan to pick up their student at the DHSP program site at Wednesday dismissal time, NOT DHSP dismissal time. There will be no DHSP staff on-site.
    • Students in grade 3 or above may walk home from their DHSP location.
    • Students in grades K-2 who are not met by an adult they recognize at the DHSP site will stay on the bus until they can be dropped off at the Safety and Security Office at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (459 Broadway, Cambridge). CPS staff will contact you, and you can also call the Safety/Security office at 617.349.6772.

If your student attends another private afterschool program, please contact the program directly.

We understand that schedule changes can be disruptive, and we appreciate your flexibility as we prioritize consistent and quality learning time for our students.
