Estimadas familias:
La primera semana aquí en Amigos ha sido excelente aunque bastante calurosa. Quiero que sepan que estabamos monitoreando la temperatura todos los días y la oficina central del distrito nos ayudó con ventiladores extras y agua. A pesar del calor, los estudiantes están aprendiendo las rutinas de la escuela y conociendo a sus nuevos compañeros y maestros. Por suerte tuve tiempo de ir a todas las clases el primer día de escuela a saludar y conocer a todos nuestros alumnos. Les pedí trabajar mucho este año, respetar a sus maestros y compañeros y divertirse con el aprendizaje. Espero que todos ustedes nos puedan ayudar a lograr estas metas.
La próxima semana será nuestra primera semana completa con todos los estudiantes. Por favor, no se preocupen si los estudiantes llegan a casa cansados ya que el aprender en dos idiomas todos los días es un trabajo cognitivo bastante desafiante.
Muchas de nuestras actividades y eventos escolares también empiezan la próxima semana. Inicia el programa de Community Schools y tenemos programadas dos noches de matemáticas. Además de eso, espero que puedan acompañar a los miembros de Friends of Amigos (FOA) y a mí para nuestra primera reunión el lunes en la biblioteca de la escuela.

Dear Families:
The first week here at Amigos has been an excellent albeit warm one. Please know that we were closely monitoring the temperature every day and that the district office helped us with extra fans and water. Despite the heat, the students are learning our school routines and meeting new classmates and teachers. Luckily I had time to visit all classrooms on the first day of school to meet and greet our students. I asked them to work hard this year, respect their teachers and peers, and have fun with learning. I hope you can help us achieve these goals as well.
Next week will be our first full week with all students. Please do not worry if students arrive home extra tired since learning in two languages every day is challenging cognitive work.
Many of our school activities and events also start next week. The Community Schools program begins, and we have two math nights scheduled. I also hope that you can join me and other Friends of Amigos (FOA) members at our first meeting on Monday in the school library.
