¡Nuestro equipo de fútbol Amigos Upper School ganó el campeonato de la ciudad el miércoles! Estamos muy orgullos@s de nuestros Jaguares. En este momento, hemos ganado los campeonatos de fútbol, voleibol y baloncesto. ¿Quienes somos? ¡Somos AMIGOS!

COVID
Esta semana 3 personas de nuestra comunidad han dado positivo en la prueba de COVID. Por favor, sigan manteniendo a su hij@ en casa si él/ella/elle muestra algún síntoma. También, si su hij@ da positivo a Covid en casa o fuera de la escuela, por favor avísenme a mí o a la enfermera Tamara para que podamos tener un registro lo más preciso posible.

Día de salida temprana
Por favor, tengan en cuenta que Amigos no tiene un día de salida temprana el 8 de junio. Nuestro día de salida temprana es el 24 de junio y l@s estudiantes saldrán a las 11:30AM. Por favor, marquen esta importante fecha en su calendario.

Lo más destacado del aprendizaje
Esta semana incluimos una foto de algunos graduados de Amigos que acaban de obtener el Sello de Bilingüismo en CRLS. El Sello del Bilingüismo es un premio otorgado por la escuela y el estado en reconocimiento a l@s estudiantes que han estudiado y alcanzado el dominio de dos o más idiomas al graduarse de la escuela secundaria. ¡Felicitaciones, Jaguares!
La colecta anual de ropa de Cradles to Crayons se realizará la semana del 13 de junio. Si usted está interesado en participar, por favor deje los artículos antes o después de la escuela en los contenedores afuera de las puertas de entrada. Si tienen preguntas pueden enviarlas a la Sra. Santos.

Amigos de la Diáspora Africana Unidos
La AADU se reunirá este SÁBADO 11 de junio de 10 a 11:30 AM para contar historias en familia.
Ellos van a:

• Crear una comunidad dentro de las familias Afro Americanas.
• Dar a la gente una oportunidad de reunirse y compartir experiencias
• Hablar de las formas en que podemos documentar las historias de nuestras familias como una forma de preservar nuestros legados

Te irás con:

• La certeza de que tus hij@s estuvieron afuera jugando al sol
• Más apoyo de los amigos de Amigos
• Unas cuantas formas sencillas de utilizar la grabación de audio y las indicaciones para usarlas con tus seres queridos en tu próxima reunión familiar

SI NO PUEDES VENIR al Parque Dana - aquí hay algunos otros lugares donde algunos de nosotros estaremos:

• Ese mismo día, sábado 11 de junio - BAMSFEST...
• El sábado 18 de junio, muchos de nosotros nos dirigiremos a HOYT FIELD para la celebración del Juneteenth de CFCC
  

Consejo Escolar de Amigos (ASC)
El ASC es un consejo consultivo compuesto por padres y profesores que trabajan para apoyarme con el plan de mejoramiento escolar, las decisiones sobre el presupuesto escolar y los objetivos educativos para l@s estudiantes y la escuela. Nos reunimos cada segundo miércoles del mes y todas las reuniones están abiertas al público.

Pronto celebraremos elecciones para los padres/madres/tutores que deseen ser miembros del consejo escolar. Si usted está interesado en postular para un puesto en el consejo, por favor hágamelo saber enviando una breve biografía y un resumen de por qué espera participar en el consejo. Una vez que tengamos los candidatos, organizaremos las elecciones.

Dear Amigos Families,

Our Amigos Upper School Soccer team won the city championship on Wednesday! We are so proud of our Jaguars. At this point, we have won the soccer, volleyball and basketball championships. ¡Quienes somos? Somos AMIGOS!

COVID
3 individuals in our community tested positive for COVID this week. Please continue to keep your child home if he/she/they show any symptoms. Also, if your child tests positive for COVID at home or outside of school, please let me or Nurse Tamara know so we can have as accurate records as possible.

Early Release Day
Please note that Amigos does NOT have an Early Release Day on June 8th. Our Early Release Day is on June 24 and students will be dismissed at 11:30AM. Please mark this important date on your calendar.

Learning Highlights
This week we include a picture of former Amigos students who just obtained the Seal of Biliteracy at CRLS. The Seal of Biliteracy is a special award given by the school and state in recognition of students who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation. Congratulations Jaguars!

Amigos' annual Cradles to Crayons clothing drive is coming up the week of June 13. If you're interested in participating please drop off items before or after school at the bins outside the entrance gates. Questions can be sent to Ms. Santos. 

Amigos African Diaspora United
The AADU will be meeting this SATURDAY June 11 from 10-11:30AM for Family Storytelling!

They will be:

• Building community within the black families of Amigos
• Giving people an opportunity to meet and share experiences
• Talking about ways we can document our family's stories as a way of preserving our legacies

You'll leave with:

• The knowledge that your kids were outside playing in the sun
• More support from friends at Amigos
• A few easy ways you can use audio recording and prompts to use with loved ones at your next family gathering

Amigos School Council (ASC)
The ASC is an advisory board comprised of parents and teachers who work to support me with the school improvement plan, school budget decisions and educational goals for the students and school. We meet every second Wednesday of the month and all meetings are open to the public. We will be holding elections for parent members in September. If you would be interested in running for a seat on the council, please let me know by sending a brief biography and summary of why you hope to participate on the council.
