Estimadas familias,

COVID

RSVP >>

Dear Amigos Families,

COVID
12 individuals in our community tested positive for COVID this week. Please continue to keep your child home if he/she/they show any symptoms. Also, if your child tests positive for COVID at home or outside of school, please let me or Nurse Tamara know so we can have as accurate records as possible.

Early Release Day
Amigos has one more Early Release Day on June 24, students will be dismissed at 11:30AM. Please mark this important date on your calendar. We do NOT have an Early Release Day on June 8th.

Learning Highlights
Math
Our K-5 students have been watching JiJi climb to 100% on our ST Math bulletin board. Students see their grade level averages for achievement, as each grade works towards completing their grade level journey.

ST Math is a math learning platform that focuses on conceptual understanding of math concepts through online play and can be accessed via Classlink at home. Additional time in ST Math gives students extra time with all grade level standards, reviews previously learned material and eventually offers challenge puzzles. Please support our goal of reaching the top by having your child play ST Math at home.

Poetry
We have additional winners and honorable mentions for the Cambridge Public Library’s 23rd Annual Poetry Contest in grades 1, 2, 4 and 6! Our Jaguars really know how to write poetry. There will be an awards ceremony and reading on Thursday, May 26 at 6PM in the Lecture Hall at the Main Library, 449 Broadway (next to Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School). Please join me in celebrating them. Our winners are:

  • Lillian Saif, Honorable Mention, First Grade for "Music"
  • Analucia Lateneir, Honorable Mention, Second Grade for "Bacon"
  • Theodore Febvay, Honorable Mention, Second Grade for "Anger"
  • Sydney Dana, First Place (tie), Fourth Grade for "Los dragones/Dragons"
  • Lucia Brauer, Second Place (tie), Fourth Grade for "El océano/The Ocean"
  • Estella Lateiner, Second Place, Sixth Grade for "La música/Music"

Amigos Courageous Conversations: 5/26 | 8-9:30PM
In light of the continued racist violence, these Amigos Courageous Conversations and the anti-racist actions we hope will develop as a result, are as important as ever. Please join us for our last gathering of the year to continue building connections between Amigos caregivers. There will be time for discussion and questions focused on various areas of inequity and how we can extend conversations about these challenging topics with our children. RSVP >>

Ragnar Race
An annual tradition at Amigos is returning this year! If you're at Amigos from 8:30-8:55AM on the morning of Wednesday May 18th, you'll see the Amigos "Flash" team rallying! Then on Friday May 20 - Saturday May 21, a group of Amigos parents will be running a 200 mile relay race called a "Ragnar" that starts in Groton, CT and goes all the way to Quincy, MA. This is the biggest annual fundraiser for the "Friends of Amigos" (FOA) and they've set an ambitious goal of $20,000 total! Everyone is invited to participate and if you're interested, you can use this link to the "GoFundMe" page to make a donation.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Middle School Health Survey

Every two years all middle schoolers across the district take this very important survey.

  • The survey is completely anonymous.
  • It gives us information on how students are feeling about themselves and the school.
  • We use this information to figure out how we can make ourselves a better school and what supports students need. It also tells us what we are doing well, which is always good to hear.
  • We don’t get the information back until the fall. When we have it, we will definitely share the results with you and let you know what we plan to do about it!
