Message from Family Liaison
Dear Morse Community,
Happy Thursday! As we head into May, I hope we see more beautiful weather and plenty of sunshine!
The Enkindled Spring By D.H. Lawrence
This spring as it comes bursts up in bonfires green,
Wild puffing of emerald trees, and flame-filled bushes,
Thorn-blossom lifting in wreaths of smoke between
Where the wood fumes up and the watery, flickering rushes.
I am amazed at this spring, this conflagration
Of green fires lit on the soil of the earth, this blaze
Of growing, and sparks that puff in wild gyration,
Faces of people streaming across my gaze.
And I, what fountain of fire am I among
This leaping combustion of spring? My spirit is tossed
About like a shadow buffeted in the throng
Of flames, a shadow that's gone astray, and is lost.
School Council Meeting TONIGHT
Thursday, April 28 | 6-7PM | Zoom
I am writing with a reminder that our next Morse School Council meeting will take place tonight. Please see the official meeting notice here.
As you are likely aware, the School Council is an important advisory body to the Principal. We are currently working with the district to redefine the scope and responsibilities of our School Council, and we need the voices and perspectives of our families to make the work of the Council as impactful and relevant as possible. If you are interested in learning more, please consider attending this Thursday's meeting! We will be joined by Robin Harris, CPS Director of Family Engagement, who has been working with CPS schools to improve their School Council systems and structures.
We are also looking for new parent representatives to join the Council next year. To ensure that our school continues to benefit from a range of experiences and perspectives, it is important that the parent members of our School Council reflect the broad diversity of our school's students and families. If you are unable to attend Thursday's meeting but would like to learn more about becoming an official parent representative, please reach out to me or Family Liaison Kasey Clermont directly.
All Morse School parents and caregivers are invited to attend Thursday's meeting, which will be virtual. Please click here to register. You will receive a Zoom link via email on Thursday afternoon. For more information on the Morse School Council, please click here.
Teacher Appreciation Week
Next Week (5/3-5/6) is Teacher Appreciation Week and The Friends of Morse welcome all in our community to join and say an official THANK YOU to our superstar teachers and staff who guide our scholars daily!***
Here's the plan
Tuesday, 5/3: Catered breakfast for all staff from local Black Sheep Bagels/ Market! Your Friends of Morse donations have supported this breakfast, so thank you! (remember: no school on Monday, 5/2 in honor of Eid)
Friday, 5/6: Potluck luncheon
Volunteers and food/drinks/decorations needed!
Sign up for both here (first tab for food, second tab for volunteers).
Virtual Kudoboard link is also on this google doc.
Leave a note of appreciation anytime during the week:
- Look for the banner outside the school and write a note to teachers and staff
- CLICK HERE to easily post on a virtual Kudoboard next week for folks to leave virtual notes that can include photos, gifs, etc.
- Or organize something directly with your class, or have your student write a personal note directly to the teachers and staff they appreciate
Math Circle
The Cambridge Math Circle was established in 2018 by math and physics PhDs with a combined 40 years of teaching experience at K-12, undergraduate and graduate levels, to give elementary and middle school students in Cambridge and surrounding towns a chance to experience deep, fascinating math and meet others who like solving puzzles and stretching their minds. If you’re interested in having your child join, please reach out to me. This is a great FREE math program.
