Estimadas familias,

¡Seguridad escolar

Dear Amigos Families,

School Safety
I want to let families know we will be scheduling a lockdown drill during the next few weeks. While we do not expect or anticipate a situation that requires a lockdown, it is important to be prepared for all emergencies. During this drill, which will last approximately five minutes, no one will be allowed to enter or exit the building. Students will be informed in an age appropriate manner by classroom teachers about the drill. They will be given instructions and have an opportunity to ask questions before they practice the lockdown. Please contact me if you have any questions about the drill or concerns about your student.

COVID
Five individuals in our community tested positive for COVID this week. Please continue to keep your child home if he/she/they show any symptoms. Also, if your child tests positive for Covid at home or outside of school, please let me or Nurse Tamara know so we can have as accurate records as possible.

I am happy to share with you that we are going to be able to schedule celebrations, performances and concerts in person as long as attendees comply with:

Being fully vaccinated or in possession of an approved exemption
Please note that this guidance is subject to change depending on public health community numbers and everyone who enters needs an appointment or an invitation.

Also, all students and staff will receive a take home COVID test before leaving for the April break. On Sunday, April 24, all students and staff should test to ensure that they are COVID free before returning to school on Monday, April 25th after the break.

MCAS
MCAS continues this week for Grades 3 and 4. If you have any questions regarding MCAS, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. Also, please note that we will collect all/any cell phones in accordance with MCAS administration rules.

Workshop: Understanding Difficult Behavior of Your Child

Wednesday, April 13 | 6:30-7:30PM | Zoom | Register >>

Special needs children are often labeled “oppositional defiant” or “troubled,” but starting from the basic assumption that all children want to “be good,” functional behavior analysis asks the question: “What need is not being met, which causes a child to act out?” Whether you are a parent/caregiver or an educator learn about

  • The four basic drivers that motivate difficult behavior
  • How to figure out what need a child’s behavior is communicating
  • Strategies to help a child get what they need in a socially appropriate way
  • When to ask for a functional behavior assessment at school and what it includes

From our speaker Craig Estee, M.Ed, BCBA, LABA, Special Educator, Behavior Analyst for ASD in Cambridge Public Schools, learn a science-based approach for getting to the root cause of difficult behaviors so that you can create the environment that will let your child be their best self.
