Tema de la semana: Plataformas de aprendizaje para usar en casa
Tenemos la suerte de tener acceso a muchas plataformas de aprendizaje en línea que pueden utilizarse en casa. Estas plataformas, cuando se utilizan de forma consistente, pueden apoyar y mejorar el aprendizaje de l@s estudiantes de manera significativa. Favor de animar a su hij@ a que se conecte y si necesita ayuda, nuestro maestro de computación, el Sr. José Vega está disponible para ayudar.

Consejo Escolar de Amigos
Alice Cohen, maestra principal de CPSD para el Aprendizaje Social y Emocional se unirá a nosotr@s en nuestra próxima reunión del Consejo Escolar de Amigos, el 8 de diciembre de 6-8PM a través de Zoom. La Sra. Cohen es una trabajadora social licenciada con experiencia trabajando para apoyar a l@s jóvenes en las escuelas públicas y privadas. En Cambridge, trabaja con l@s trabajador@s sociales del edificio, l@s director@s y los equipos de seguridad escolar para apoyar la conducta de l@s estudiantes que luchan por cumplir con las expectativas de comportamiento. Ella compartirá su experiencia en el campo y abordará los temas de seguridad, aislamiento, salud mental y física a la vista de la pandemia de COVID 19.

Recordatorio de salida: No hay cambios de última hora
Por favor, recuerde que la hora de salida es un momento muy ocupado del día. Le pedimos que por favor llame a la oficina de Amigos antes de las 2:30 para cualquier cambio de planes que usted desee hacer. Si usted no llama antes de las 2:30, no podemos garantizar que su mensaje llegue a su hij@.

  • Los padres/madres/tutores deben notificar a l@s maestr@s y a la Sra. Sheila por correo electrónico si necesitan una salida diferente.
  • Los padres/madres/tutores deben llamar a la oficina de Amigos por lo menos 10 minutos antes de llegar a la escuela.
  • Entonces notifíquenos para confirmar que está afuera para que podamos despedir a su hij@ con seguridad.
  • No se permitirá que ningún estudiante de la escuela intermedia se vaya durante el horario escolar por su cuenta. Un/@ adult@ aprobado tendrá que recoger al/l@ estudiante en la escuela.

Viajes
COVID
Favor de recordar lo siguiente si piensa viajar durante las vacaciones de invierno:

  • Para l@s estudiantes y el personal, tanto vacunados como no vacunados, que viajen a nivel nacional (dentro de los Estados Unidos), por favor háganse la prueba antes del viaje y 3-5 días después de su regreso.
  • Para los que viajan al extranjero, las personas vacunadas deben hacerse la prueba 3-5 días después de su regreso. Las personas no vacunadas deben hacerse la prueba 3-5 días después del viaje y estar en cuarentena durante 7 días. Si los individuos no vacunados no se hacen la prueba, deben estar en cuarentena durante 10 días después del viaje.

Por favor, vea los detalles en el Manual de Seguridad e Instalaciones COVID-19 del distrito.

El portal de vacunación de los estudiantes está abierto. Todos l@s estudiantes de 6º a 8º grado deben subir pruebas de vacunación o presentar solicitudes de exención.

 
Trabajo escolar
Si usted piensa viajar con su familia por un periodo extendido, debe notificar con antelación las fechas de su viaje a la directora, el asesor o l@s maestr@s de salón hogar. Todo el trabajo académico asignado por l@s profesores debe ser completado durante o después del tiempo de viaje. Sin embargo, l@s profesores no están obligad@s a planificar con 3 semanas de antelación.

Amigos School Council
Alice Cohen, CPSD lead teacher for Social and Emotional Learning will be joining us at our next Amigos School Council meeting on December 8th from 6-8PM via Zoom. Ms. Cohen is a licensed social worker with experience working to support young people in both public and private schools. In Cambridge, she supports building-based social workers, principals, and school safety teams to target and improve students struggling to meet behavioral expectations. She will be sharing her expertise in the field and addressing the issues of safety, isolation, mental and physical health in the light of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Dismissal Reminder: No last minute changes
Please be reminded that dismissal is a very busy time of day. We ask that you please call the Amigos office no later than 2:30 for any changes of after-school plans. If you do not call by 2:30 we cannot guarantee that your message will get to your student.

  • Parents/Guardians must notify teachers and Ms. Sheila via email if they need an early dismissal for an appointment or early pick up.
  • Parents/Guardians must call the Amigos Office at least 10 minutes before arriving at the school.
  • Then notify us to confirm that they are outside so that we can dismiss their student safely. Only students and staff may enter the building, please do not come inside.
  • No Upper School Student will be allowed to be dismissed during school hours on their own. An approved adult will need to pick up the student at the school.

Travel
COVID
Please remember the following if you are traveling over winter break.

  • For both vaccinated and unvaccinated students and staff traveling domestically (within the United States), please get tested prior to travel and 3-5 days after your return.
  • For those traveling internationally, vaccinated individuals should get tested 3-5 days after return. Unvaccinated individuals should test 3-5 days after travel AND quarantine for 7 days. If unvaccinated individuals are not tested, they should be quarantined for 10 days after travel.

Please see details in the district’s COVID-19 Safety and Facilities Manual.

The student vaccination portal is open. All students in grades 6-8 should upload proof of vaccination or submit exemption requests.

School Work
If you are planning to travel for an extended period of time, the principal and classroom teachers must be notified in advance of travel dates. All academic work assigned by teachers will need to be made up during or after travel, however teachers are not required to plan 3 weeks in advance.

Water Bottle Classroom Initiative
for 1st and 3rd Graders

The Cambridge Healthy Smiles program completed its annual Water Bottle Classroom Initiative this month. Students in Grades 1 and 3 received a personal water bottle to use at school to promote oral health. The program visits classrooms to teach an oral health lesson about the benefits of drinking water and how to take care of their teeth during their school day. Parents of 1st and 3rd graders are given an opportunity to ask questions they may have about their family’s dental health filling out this survey.
