Estimadas familias,
¡Ha sido una semana maravillosamente ocupada aquí en Amigos! Fue emocionante ver a tod@s nuestr@s estudiantes y familias que regresaron y también conocer a l@s miembros nuev@s de la comunidad. Se siente realmente bien estar aquí con tod@s después de tanto tiempo.
Esta semana nuestro personal se ha dedicado a crear ambientes de aula donde tod@s l@s estudiantes se sientan segur@s y cuidad@s, así como a trabajar en las rutinas y normas que ayudarán a tod@s l@s alumn@s a hacer su mejor trabajo. Nuestras directrices generales son la seguridad y la amabilidad. Nuestros valores escolares son la integridad, la compasión y la perseverancia. Nuestras expectativas de comportamiento para todo el edificio son: 1. Respetarte a ti mismo 2. Respetar a los demás y 3. Respetar la propiedad. Ustedes pueden encontrar una versión gráfica de nuestras reglas para toda la escuela aquí, y esperamos que las revisen con su estudiante. Además, su hij@ debe llegar a casa con una carpeta de Amigos. ¡Esta carpeta ayudará con la comunicación entre nosotr@s y ustedes y puede contener avisos importantes, volantes y/o tareas!
El próximo martes a las 6 PM, tenemos nuestra primera reunión del Consejo Escolar de Amigos. El Consejo de Amigos está compuesto por madres, padres, encargad@s y profesor@s que trabajan como un grupo asesor para la administración de la escuela. Estamos buscando nuev@s miembr@s para que se unan al consejo. Si están interesad@s en participar, espero que se unan a nosotr@s. Esta primera reunión se llevará a cabo vía Zoom y hablaremos sobre la seguridad escolar durante COVID y las metas que tenemos como escuela para los próximos años.
Por favor, les recuerdo los “Qué hacer” y “Qué no hacer” para este año
escolar compartidos anteriormente.
Qué hacer
- Todo el mundo debe llevar máscaras/mascarillas dentro del edificio. ¡L@s estudiantes y el personal deben llevar máscaras/mascarillas!
- El desayuno y el almuerzo serán al aire libre a menos que haya mal tiempo.
- Seguir distanciandonos físicamente cuando sea necesario
- Continuar quedándonos en casa si no nos sentimos bien. ¡POR FAVOR MANTENGAN A NUESTR@S JAGUARES EN CASA SI NO SE SIENTEN BIEN!
- Continuar lavando Y/O desinfectando nuestras manos frecuentemente durante el día.
- Si tienen una Chromebook de la escuela en casa, FAVOR de regresarla lo antes posible.
Qué no hacer
- Por favor no se congreguen frente a la escuela ya que necesitamos ese espacio para que la llegada y la salida se desarrollen sin problemas.
- Por favor, no se estacione en el carril del autobús en la calle Upton durante la llegada o la salida. Este carril debe permanecer abierto para permitir que los autobuses dejen o recojan a l@s estudiantes con seguridad. Si usted bloquea el carril del autobús puede ser remolcado (las restricciones de estacionamiento también están publicadas en la calle Upton). Además, Upton Street es una calle de un solo sentido durante la llegada y la salida. Los vehículos deben entrar por Magazine Street.
- Por favor, no estacione ni espere en el estacionamiento de la escuela en ningún momento.

Jueves 9 de septiembre: ¡Bienvenidos! Primer día de clases para el 1er- 8vo grado de Amigos, de 8:40AM a 2:55PM.
Todo el mes de septiembre: Conferencias familiares, l@s profesores y asesores se reunirán con todas las familias. Por favor, busque una comunicación de ell@s.
Domingo 12 de septiembre: Día de juegos para Jr.K/Kindergarten en Dana Park, Magazine St. entre Lawrence y Corporal McTiernan St.
Lunes 13 de septiembre:
1) ¡Bienvenid@s! Primer día de clases para Jr.K/Kindergarten, 8:40AM - 2:55PM.
2) Las familias de Amigos están invitadas a una conversación virtual con Superintendente Greer, 7PM.
Martes 14 de septiembre: La reunión del Consejo Escolar de Amigos, 6-8pm. Todos son bienvenid@s.
Miércoles, 15 de septiembre- 15 de octubre: La Escuela Amigos celebra el mes de la Herencia Hispana.
Jueves 16 de septiembre: Día feriado: Yom Kippur. No hay escuela.
Miércoles 22 de septiembre: Día de salida temprana, a las 12:55PM.
En octubre
Lunes 12 de octubre: Día feriado, Día de la Gente Indígena. No hay escuela.
Martes 12 a 15 de octubre: La semana de currículo. L@s maestr@s programarán sus propios eventos sobre el currículo de su clase para las madres, los padres y encargad@s.
Dear Families,
It's been a wonderfully busy week here at Amigos! It was exciting to see all of our returning students and families and also to meet new members of the community. It feels really good to be here with everyone after such a long time.
This week our staff has been dedicated to creating classroom environments where all students feel safe and cared for, as well as working on routines and rules that will help all students do their best work. Our general guidelines are safety and kindness. Our school values are perseverance, integrity and compassion. Our behavioral expectations for the entire building are: 1. Respect yourself 2. Respect others and 3. Respect Property. You can find a graphic version of our school-wide rules here, and we hope you will review them with your student. In addition, your child should come home with an Amigos folder. This folder will help with communication between us and you and may contain important notices, flyers and/or assignments!
Next Tuesday at 6 pm, we have our first Amigos School Council (ASC) meeting. The ASC is composed of parents and teachers who work as an advisory group to the school administration. We are looking for new members to join the council this year. If you are interested in participating, I hope you will join us. You can also just come informally and join in the conversation when you are able to. This first meeting will be held via Zoom and we will be discussing school safety during COVID and the goals we have as a school for the next few years.
Finally, please be reminded of the do's and dont's for this school year that were shared last week.
Do's
- Everyone must wear masks inside the building - students and staff must wear masks!
- Breakfast and lunch will be outside unless there is inclement weather.
- Continue to distance ourselves physically when necessary
- Continue to stay home if we are not feeling well. PLEASE KEEP OUR JAGUARS HOME IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL!
- Continue to wash AND/OR disinfect our hands frequently throughout the day.
- If you have a Chromebook from school at home, PLEASE return it as soon as possible.
Don'ts
- Please do not congregate in front of the school as we need that space for smooth arrival and dismissal.
- Please do not park in the bus lane on Upton Street during arrival or dismissal. This lane must remain open to allow buses to safely drop off or pick up students. If you block the bus lane you may be towed (parking restrictions are also posted on Upton Street). In addition, Upton Street is a one-way street during arrival and departure. Vehicles must enter from Magazine Street.
- Please do not park or wait in the school parking lot at any time.

 Healthy Snack of the Week
Tomato Salad! Chopped tomatoes, cucumbers (or zucchini), edamame and balsamic vinegar. Tip: Mix any veggie or bean into this simple salad! Also, use frozen veggie mixes for a quicker snack.
