Estimadas Familias

Atentamente,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Directora

Dear Families

Today we celebrated Black History Month during our all school assembly. Alan Rias, a vocal artist specializing in songs from the Civil Rights Era and African American History, joined us and students spoke and presented about the many black and African American leaders who inspire and motivate them. It was a truly beautiful assembly.

Thursday afternoon a group of upper school students participated in the Young People’s Project Flagway Tournament at Cambridge Street Upper School. It was a great opportunity for our students to connect with one another and compete against other upper schools. This was our first year participating and we are very proud of our students’ performance.

Next week we invite you to join us in celebrating National School Breakfast Week. On Tuesday, March 3rd, during breakfast time the Amigos School will have a sampling of Colombian Style Arepas. Ingredients for the arepas are precooked cornmeal flour, salt, water, oil, cheese. The menu breakfast main entrée will be served on the day of the taste test and the sample item will be optional. 1$ for parents/adults/guardians. We really hope you will join us!

It is that time of year... time for more Amigos “Merch” at Mercado de Amigos!! Friends of Amigos has added a number of new items to the school store:
- Signature 8th grade T-shirt - this year’s 8th graders have produced their own T-shirt design and it is now available for purchase through the store
- Amigos baseball cap
- Sweatpants with an updated design

As before we also have bags, stickers, popsockets and coffee mugs.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Principal
