It's Time for SUMMER LEARNING!!!
MAKE YOUR SUMMER STORY ROCK!
Summer vacation has arrived! Our students have made great progress and engaged in so much learning this school year. Over break, we want them to continue this excellent growth and avoid the “summer slide.” To support student success, the Morse School’s Literacy and Math Leadership Teams have organized some fun, easy ways to encourage continued learning over vacation. This year, the Morse School has adopted the theme “Stories Rock! Tell Us Yours!” based on the statewide 2018 summer reading theme, “Libraries Rock!” Students will participate in a Summer Learning Kick-Off the last week of school that will encourage them to continue their learning and make their story ROCK this summer!
Over summer break, students are being asked to engage in at least 20 minutes of reading/writing and 20 minutes of math every day. We’re encouraging students to find fun and unique ways to engage in learning so they can really make their story rock this summer! Maybe they’ll practice their math facts in a tent, write a creative story with a friend, or measure out the ingredients for a delicious summer meal. The possibilities are endless, and they all lead to summer stories that ROCK!
To help with their summer learning efforts, students currently in grades K-4 will receive:
–a Math Log (to track math learning minutes)
–a Literacy Log (to tracking reading and writing minutes)
–a Morse BINGO Card (because who doesn’t love BINGO?)
–access to our “Stories Rock!” Google Classroom (for current 2nd, 3rd, & 4th graders - fun new learning websites will be posted - classroom.google.com)
FAMILIES CAN HELP!
There are a number of ways to promote summer learning at home over the break: Encourage your children to find creative ways engage in summer learning that will make their summer story rock! Remind them fill out their BINGO card and record their learning minutes on their logs. Encourage your children to visit our “Stories Rock!” Google Classroom and spend some time on the suggested educational websites. Anything you do to help keep your child learning over break will make their story ROCK this summer!

We want to make sure the websites meet your expectations and more.
