Message from the Principal
Estimadas familias,
Atentamente,
Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Directora

Dear Families,
The end of the school year is fast approaching. It has been a wonderful year and I look forward to reflecting on it over the summer. I am happy with what we have achieved and the tremendous learning that took place. That said, there are always areas for growth and I know we will continue working together to strengthen our school and our community.
I would like to encourage parents / guardians to do certain things before the end of the year. First, please visit the lost and found, many classes have boxes outside the classrooms and there is also a box in the cafeteria. Any items left at the end of the school year will be donated during the summer. Second, please return any book from our library to Ms. Melisa. Each year we lose many books and this ends up affecting the learning experience of all our students. Finally, please inform Ms. Sheila in the office if you will be moving or if your child will not return to Amigos next year.
Beyond the 4th Wall, a non-profit organization that presents shows with student actors from across the City of Cambridge, will present the first act of "Into the Woods" on June 14, 15 and 16 at 7PM and on June 17 at 3pm at the CRLS theater. Come and enjoy this hilarious musical work with a wonderful cast that includes many Amigos students from 3rd to 8th grade! Tickets are on sale online ($ 5 for children and $ 10 for adults).
Sincerely,
Sarah Bartels-Marrero

District Middle School Social-Emotional Learning Survey
The district plans to survey students every year as part of our District Plan, which outlines our commitment to rigorous, joyful, and culturally responsive learning, with personalized supports that build their future success. Student’s participation will help us learn about general areas where we can continually grow to improve our practices. Please see the attached letter from the superintendent explaining the survey. There are copies of the letter in English, Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Amharic, and Bengali. If you would like support in a language not mentioned, please reach out to the school at 617.349.4060. CPS Website User Family Survey
CPS is starting a rebranding project this summer and needs your help! The CPS district and school websites will be redesigned and we need your feedback.
We want to make sure the websites meet your expectations and more. By filling out the following short survey, we will be able to understand the experience families have when visiting CPS websites and how it can be improved. We also will examine communication efforts collectively at CPS. Thank you in advance for your participation. Take the Survey >>
Not enough hours in the day?
As part of our ongoing efforts to learn and improve as a school district, Cambridge Public Schools has identified a frequently-cited obstacle: time.
Please join with us in discussing the recommendations of a joint report from the Cambridge Education Association and CPS Administration, which proposes extending the length of the school day.
Beginning with these school-based conversations, and continuing with a broad community process in Fall 2018, the Superintendent will develop recommendations for any potential changes by Winter 2018-19.
Learn more about this process on the CPS website. Upcoming discussions are listed below, many of which have been scheduled for a regular meeting of School Councils. There will be more opportunities to contribute your thoughts and ideas over the coming months. Or, feel free to email us.
Got feedback?
We can't wait to hear from you! CPS is conducting our first annual Family Survey, and we hope to hear from you by June 14th!
If you haven't already received an email or text message, or it's gotten lost in your inbox, check out our Family Survey page and click on your family's school(s). You can also find questions & answers about the survey, view our outreach plan, and even make comments on ways to improve our outreach strategy.
For those who don't have a good way to take it from home, watch for survey-taking stations at events at school. We value your feedback and hope to learn and improve based on what we hear from you.
The survey is part of our continuous improvement efforts, a key component of our CPS District Plan.
