Update from Special Start
Happy New Year from Special Start! As the middle of the year approaches, we are happy to report that we’ve had a great year so far. Children have been engaged in a variety
curriculum themes and activities throughout the fall and early
winter. For those who don’t know our program, Special Start
is a Peabody School program, but we also operate under the
citywide Special Start Program of the Cambridge Public
Schools. Special Start provides preschool education, special
education and therapeutic services for preschoolers across the
city in a variety of settings. Read more >>
Update from Special Educators
Special Educators are embarking on an exciting new venture
to connect parents, family members and the school community
with what is happening in their classrooms in terms of reading
and writing. Beginning January 2015, a new blog will be
launched displaying student work. It is aptly named, Witty
Writers. This new venture provides students an opportunity to
share their writing with parents, family members their school
community, and their fellow peers. In addition, students have
a chance to publish their writing, learning about editing along
the way. Read more >>
3rd Grader Review: My Trip to Turkey
If you need a vacation you would have a good time visiting
Turkey. Summer would be the best time to visit Turkey.
I think the two places in Turkey to see are Istanbul and the
Southern Coast.
You might like to go to the beach and go para-sailing in the
deep ocean. You get on a big boat. Once on the big boat, you
strap on ropes and glide with a sail up into the sky.

Save Some Pumpkin Pie for Me
By: 5th Grade Student
Thanksgiving is a day to celebrate what you have, not a day to shop. In my opinion, stores should be closed on the
Thanksgiving holiday. When stores offer super sales, crowds
pile up at the door. Sometimes people cut the line, and even
riots start. Over a toy! Thanksgiving is about sharing food and
time with your family, not fighting crowds. Another reason
for shops to close on Thanksgiving is it would not be fair to
families if one of their family members has to work. You can
shop all the time, so why don't you just put your shopping
bags down and give a hug to your family instead. I hope you
agree with me that stores should be closed on Thanksgiving.
Oh, and save some pumpkin pie for me! :)
Benefit Night at Flatbread Pizza
The Friends of Peabody would like to thank the Peabody
Community for making the Benefit Night at Flatbread Pizza
on January 13 such a success. Through your generosity,
Friends of Peabody raised over $1,500 with $787.50 provided
by Flatbread Pizza from pizza sales that evening and the
balance raised through the sale of raffle tickets and T-shirts.
The Friends of Peabody is delighted to have funds available to
support enrichment activities throughout the school. Look for
additional opportunities to purchase the 2015 Peabody T-shirts
soon.
All School Share...What are they?
All School Share is a monthly event that you are always invited to join us at. We gather in the Auditorium and each grade prepares something to perform that they are currently learning about in class. This may be songs, poems, mini plays, writing or projects the class decides to share.

Drop-off Parking Reminder
Please do not park behind the school or in the library lot for drop-off. It presents a serious risk to our students. Thank you for your cooperation.
Entering the School Reminder
Please do not enter the school from any other door than the
Main Entrance. We value the safety of our students and staff.
Our best way to know who is in the building is by people only
using the front door. Thank you for your cooperation.
