Estimadas familias,
Atentamente,
Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Directora

Dear Families,
A best practice here at Amigos is our Reading Buddies program. Students from upper and lower grades are paired together to enjoy reading texts in both English and Spanish. This week students across Amigos met their buddy, and interviewed each other asking questions such as “What is your favorite book?, Where do you like to read?, What inspires you?” Reading buddies will have the wonderful opportunity to meet together once every three weeks until the end of the school year.
The second marking period ended on January 26 and JK-5 families should receive your child’s report card in the upcoming week. Upper School families should already have access to final grades via Aspen. Our report cards reflect the learning standards outlined in the Massachusetts State Frameworks and communicate student progress toward meeting end-of-year learning standards. Students will receive grades for Spanish and English language and literacy development as well.
As many of you know, the director of the Amigos Community School After-school program, Amber Pittenger Tillson, has accepted a position elsewhere. Again, the city will be looking to fill this position. In the meanwhile, Ellen Thompson will return to the program along with the new Program Director, TurQuoise Gosmon. Please address any questions or concerns to them.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Principal
