Staff News
This week you will be introduced to our new staff members.
Introducing our new Visual Arts Teacher, Victoria Stearns
Dear Families of the Peabody School,
My name is Victoria Stearns and I am the new Visual Arts Teacher at the Peabody School.
I have my master's degree in Arts Education from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and I am a practicing painter and ceramic artist in my free time.
In art class this year, we will be exploring with a variety of art mediums including drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, sculpture and mixed media. As a reminder, we sometimes use messy materials in art class so please remember to not send your child in their best clothes on the day your child has art!
I look forward to making lots of great art projects and getting to know the students and families of the Peabody School community this year!
Best,
Victoria Stearns
Our new Spanish Teacher, Elisa Convers
My name is Elisa Convers. I am the new elementary Spanish teacher in Cambridge Public Schools. I am very excited at this opportunity and I know that your children will have a fun and rewarding experience in the Spanish class. I am a native from Colombia, South America, and am extremely passionate about the study of languages and culture. I cannot wait to inspire my students to develop a love for the lifelong learning of Spanish, my mother tongue, and other foreign languages!
Besides teaching Spanish, I have taught art. Art is another great passion in my life. From film to painting to writing, I enjoy creating and teaching art as it allows for a full nuanced expression of self. I have no doubt that it makes me a better Spanish teacher. I have several hobbies. I love biking and I actually commute to school by bike. Living in such a naturally rich and diverse ecosystem as New England, I like to go swimming in the wild. I also practice yoga and meditate daily. Mindfulness has added balance and joy to my life. Finally, there is nothing more important than friends and family, and I cherish my time with them.
Meet Diane Jin, Special Start Paraprofessional
I am so excited to be working in Janet’s Special Start classroom and about reconnecting with the Peabody School community. Many of you may recognize me because my kids, Nick and Isabel, attended school here. While my kids were at Peabody School I got my Masters in Early Childhood Education. Most recently, I transferred from the Special Start at Graham & Parks where I worked for 3 years. In my free time I enjoy walking, going to the beach, traveling and spending time with my family.
Thank you to all for a wonderful flag raising ceremony.
3rd Grade Science is off to a great start learning about weather!
