Estimadas familias,

katherine photoQuiero presentarles a mi aprendiz administrativo, Katherine Thompson.

Sinceramente,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero

Dear Families,

We had another fabulous week here at Amigos! Teachers have begun digging into curriculum and students are easing into a routine of learning and scholarship. Please remember to join us on September 19 from 6-8 pm for our Back to School- Curriculum Night. At Curriculum Night you will have a chance to meet your child’s teachers while learning about school and classroom expectations for behavior and curriculum. I really hope you can join us!

I also want to remind families that Amigos, like other schools, is considered by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and or Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to be a “sensitive location” with respect to enforcement actions. “An enforcement action covered by this policy is any action taken by ICE or Customs and Border Protection to apprehend, arrest, interview, or search an individual, or to surveil an individual for enforcement purposes” (https://www.cbp.gov/border-security/sensitive-locations-faqs). The Cambridge Public Schools and the Cambridge Police have a policy in place to support the enforcement of our “sensitive location” status.

katherine photoThis week I’d like to introduce you to my new administrative intern, Katherine Thompson. She is currently a PhD student in Curriculum and Instruction at Boston College. As part of her degree, she is also doing an internship here at Amigos to earn her administrative license. Before beginning her doctoral program, she worked as a first grade teacher at a number of different schools, most recently at the American School of Barcelona. She just returned from spending the summer in Spain with family, and is very happy to be joining the Amigos community. She will be here two days a week this year. If you see her in the hallways, don’t hesitate to stop and say hello!

Have a lovely weekend!

Sincerely,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero
