Dear Families,

This week was another busy week at Amigos! Students continued with MCAS assessments, we held the “Know Your Rights” session on Tuesday night and, of course, we had parent/teacher conferences on Wednesday night and throughout the week. It has been wonderful to see so many of you here at the school.

If you missed the “Know Your Rights” session on Tuesday, please let Lillian or me know if you would like to meet and review what was discussed. I found it very informative to learn about the actions all immigrants should take to maintain and protect their rights. We thank, Melody Brazo, our Welcoming Schools Coordinator, for helping us to organize this event.

I’d like to take a moment today to share with you a statement that the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) released this week regarding a book and tv series titled “13 Reasons Why”. This book and tv series have become very popular among young people, including some of our Amigos middle school students. However, since the main topic of this series is teen suicide, it is not recommended that young people read or watch it without having an adult with whom to debrief. Please take a moment to read the statement and recommendations from NASP and talk with your son or daughter.

Have a restful weekend!

Sincerely,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Principal

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Estimadas familias,

Sinceramente,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Principal
