Dear Families,
In a few weeks, Amigos students, like all other Cambridge students, will be participating in the new Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS). These assessments will take place during April and May and focus on literacy, math and science. While teachers will be preparing students for this assessment, our focus, as always, will continue to be on authentic and high-quality instruction in two languages. This year, for the first time, students in grades four and eight will be taking the assessment online. Participation this year is particularly important since a large part of our accountability level will be based on overall test participation. Please follow this link to some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
This week I enjoyed the opportunity to attend a conference on Race, Equity and Leadership in Schools. It was an inspirational, motivating and meaningful conference focused on helping school leaders engage their communities in these essential topics. The intersection of race, equity and education has a long history in our country, and it is imperative that we, as a dual language school, continue to work towards social justice and high academic achievement for all students.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Principal

Estimadas Familias,
Atentamente,
Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Directora
