Estimadas Familias,

Atentamente,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero

Dear Families,

This was a busy albeit short week here at Amigos. We enjoyed a wonderful 1st grade breakfast and writing presentation on Wednesday morning and a second Kindergarten cantata earlier today. It is so exciting to see our students and families engaging in learning, singing and sharing together.

Students and parents have been actively organizing for the 8th grade capstone trip to New York City. For three days and two nights, our 8th graders explore the cultural heritage of different Hispanic immigrant groups through museum visits in Spanish, exploration of Spanish Harlem, restaurant adventures, theater highlights (Get on Your Feet!) and salsa lessons. Please take a sneak peek at their online auction, going live on Monday, February 27th and ending on Monday, March 13. There are many amazing items, from gift certificates to culinary adventures!

Next week is vacation week. For those of you who are traveling, I wish you safe travels. For everyone else, I wish you a restful week. With that in mind, I leave you with a poem by Chicano playwright, Luis Valdes, that I feel represents who we are and what we do at Amigos.

Sincerely,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero
