President Obama Sends Second Letter to the Morse School
Something to take note of: 8 years ago when (then) newly elected President Barack Obama took office our second graders in Meynardo Gutierez's class wrote letters to him. The class was honored when he wrote back thanking them for their good wishes. This letter and a photo had been framed and on display in our Main Lobby display case for the past 8 years. A few weeks ago, the Morse School had a package arrive. As part of his out going plans, President Obama, wrote back to both the teachers here at the Morse and the students who sent him letters eight years ago! You can see his most recent note (on official Whitehouse stationary) in a new frame in our display case.
Winter is here! Do students still go out

Winter Weather Safety
Principals and Heads of Upper Schools are encouraged not to cancel recess due to weather, unless absolutely necessary. Each principal and head of upper school or designee will determine whether the temperature or wind-chill are severe enough to cancel recess.

Happenings in Morse K – 2 Afterschool
By: Kumi Okabe-Velasco
Morse K-2 finished the Project-Based Learning on Community. Children worked on a quilting activity utilizing various types materials, such as paper, fabrics, and recycled materials. We learned that quilting is an activity that gathers people and provides opportunities to bond. We invited Morse K-2 families to present the quilts we worked on and celebrated the completion of our project. Morse K-2 began the new Project-Based Learning this month and we are learning about friendship, kindness, and being courageous through a pig and an elephant.
