Dear Families,
We had another great week here at Amigos! Today the upper school enjoyed a visit from Peruvian scientist, Kerstin Forsberg. Ms. Forsberg is a marine biologist and is founder and director of Planeta Océano. Her work includes spearheading a movement that saved the manta-ray population from poachers and commercial fisheries in her native country of Peru. She spoke to our students today about climate change, ecosystems and habitat loss.
At the Amigos School Council meeting this week, we discussed our School Improvement Plan and heard feedback from parent members on the council. We also discussed the school’s latest accountability report. You will hear more from me about this in the future, but the good news is that Amigos has become a Level 1 school. This means that last year, we met gap-narrowing goals for all student subgroups on the 2016 PARCC assessment!
Today, I would also like to take a moment to remind families that students should not bring toys or trading cards to school. These items are disruptive to the educational process and are often lost, broken or given away without parental permission. I thank you in advance for your support with this issue.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Sarah Bartels-Marrero

Estimadas Familias,
Sinceramente,
Sarah Bartels-Marrero
