Annual Curriculum Night
On Wednesday, September 21st, we held our annual Curriculum Night. In keeping with our theme: Peabody, One School, Many Stories, we decided to share a bit of our (the Peabody Faculty and Staff’s) story. Download the presentation of what we shared by visiting

The TED Talk we showed, was titled: The Danger of a Single Story by Chimamanda Adichie. For those of you that couldn’t stay, or were not able to attend, you can view it here

Lice

What you need to know about Lice
From Nurse Ronnette
Head Lice is Nothing but a NUISANCE!
Students diagnosed with live head lice do not need to be sent home. Out of courtesy parent will be called and asked to pick up their children as it can be easily transferred to other children, especially those in the younger classrooms who do not understand personal space. Learn more >>

Would You Like to Be a Room Parent?
Dear fellow parents and caregivers,

Welcome (back) to the Peabody school! I want to take a moment to introduce myself - my name is Karen Soroca and our family (Julia 2nd and Sarah 6th) is in our seventh year at the Peabody. Last year I offered to coordinate the room parent program and my first task is to find volunteers for each classroom as well as to help our specialists (art, library and music).

My role as both a room parent and volunteer has varied greatly depending upon the teacher - each one has their own needs and preferences. But the one consistent theme has been communication - be it creating a classroom contact directory or sending reminders or placing calls about everything from classroom wish lists to upcoming school-wide or classroom events.

If you are interested in learning more or in becoming a room parent, please email me your name, child’s name and teacher, and your email address. Please note: all room parents and volunteers must have a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) completed. The school manages this process - all you need to do is complete the CORI form (must present your ID) at the upcoming open house or in the main office.

I will finalize the room parent list next week and host the room parent kick off meeting on Monday, 9/26 at 8 am in the school library. Thank you in advance to all the volunteers who help make the Peabody such a wonderful school.

Thank You,
Karen
