Dear Families,

It has been a great first week at Amigos! Students and teachers have been getting to know each other and have begun building the positive relationships so essential to our work. Classes have been creating norms and reviewing expectations and, more than anything, having fun learning. We had a visit from our new superintendent, Dr. Kenneth Salim, on the first day of school. It was great to have him with us and I look forward to him coming back soon!

This week we also spent time going over our expectations for recess and lunch. Our overarching guidelines are to be safe and be kind and we work to always respect ourselves, respect others and respect property in all areas of the school. You can see more detailed expectations here.

Next Wednesday at 6PMm, we have our first Amigos School Council meeting. This first meeting will be dedicated to a forum for new families. Council members will hold an informal question and answer session in the library and hope that new families will join us to familiarize themselves with the JK-8 experience at Amigos.

Next Tuesday at 6:30PM is also the first Friends of Amigos (FOA) meeting. Any parents who are interested in supporting FOA are welcome to attend.

I know that a few buses have been late this week. There are always a few bumps in the road to get started, but I am hopeful that the bus schedule will come together soon.

Enjoy the long weekend!

Sincerely,

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Estimadas familias,

Sinceramente,
