A Note from Principal Tony Byers
Purveyors of pop culture would have you believe that the end of the school year is an unambiguously joyful event: the final bell rings and students run whooping from the building, throwing their papers and cares to the wind as they sprint towards the lazy days of summer. While the end of the year does include a fair amount of whooping, from both students and teachers, it also brings on more mixed emotions that are rarely acknowledged in popular portraits of the last day of school. Market

G&P Market

Thank you all for helping to make the G&P Market such a success this year! We were thrilled to see so many students, families and staff at the market each month, enjoying the free, fresh food. Thank you so much to Food for Free, the Mayor’s Office and the many staff and volunteers that helped to make it such a success. We look forward to building the market to be even bigger next year. Happy cooking!

Summer Star

Be a Summer Star, Not a Summer Slider!
By Kathy Greeley, ELA Coach, and Claire Dahill, Math Coach
Summer is a time to get outside, visit with families and friends, and have a change of routine. But, even during this break from school, kids can still be learning. In fact, students who continue to use their minds well during the summer return to school with a real advantage - they’ve beaten the Summer Slide! Read more >>

Reading Around the World

Read Around the World Update
During the month of May, students at Graham and Parks had the goal of reading around the world by reading at least one book from each of the 7 continents. We've counted at least 72 books read by classes at G&P, and many more books were read individually by students. Using the books, students learned the names of countries, folktales, cultural customs, and favorite stories from around the world. We hope this project made all students feel that books hold stories they can relate to and exciting, unknown stories to discover.

PARKING REMINDERS
Families should NOT park in the Staff parking lots of Avon St and Walker St. There are very limited parking spots for G&P staff, many of whom do not have a Cambridge Parking Permit. Also, if your car gets blocked in by a teacher, we cannot have them leave the classroom to move their car - so you don’t want to get blocked in! We know parking is tight in this neighborhood but please take the extra minute to find a spot on the street. We would greatly appreciate it. Also, a reminder that Street Cleaning in Cambridge began April 1st! Be careful when parking throughout Cambridge to check the street signs to see when street cleaning will occur. Cars will be towed if they are parked on a street during street cleaning day! For Graham & Parks, Street Cleaning will be on the Odd side of the street on Friday May 20th and on the Even side on May 22nd.

GET CONNECTED!
There are many ways to stay in touch with the G&P Community!! Choose whatever is best for you – or all of them!
