Estimadas Familias,

El Consejo Escolar tuvo una reunión muy productiva el miércoles. Seguimos hablando de nuestro plan de Compromiso Familiar. Continuaremos elaborando este plan el día 30 de noviembre en la reunión del distrito de consejos escolares en CRLS.

También esta semana llegó a Amigos nuestra nueva asistente del 4to grado, Cristina Jurado. Cristina es original de Cadiz, España y actualmente está estudiando educación en Bunker Hill Community College. Si ven a Cristina por los pasillos, favor de darle una cálida bienvenida.

Empezando el lunes, Emily Greenstein, la mamá de Ruby, estudiante de kinder, estará mandando ropa de segunda mano a la Fundación Starfish, una organización que apoya refugiados en las Islas Griegas. La Fundación Starfish está basada en Lesvos, la isla griega donde están desembarcando la mayoría de los barcos transportando refugiados de Siria y otros países devastados por el conflicto.

Habrán dos cajas de donaciones en la oficina central de Amigos. Por favor, considere donar lo siguiente desde el lunes, 9 de noviembre hasta el viernes, 13 de noviembre.

Los artículos más necesarios son:
*ropa para niños de las edades 10 a 14
*bufandas, gorras, guantes/mitones de invierno
*mantas
*medias/calcetines (todos los tamaños)
*zapatos de mujer y hombre
*impermeables y ponchos
*pantalones de hombre
*pantalones de sudadera (todos los tamaños)
*sacos de dormir

Dear Families,

The Amigos School Council had another productive meeting on Wednesday. We continued discussing our Family Engagement Plan, which we will continue elaborating at the City-wide School Council meeting on November 30 at CRLS.

This week our new assistant teacher in 4th grade, Cristina Jurado, arrived at Amigos. Cristina is a native of Cadiz, Spain and is currently studying education at Bunker Hill Community College. If you see Cristina in the hallways, please give her a warm welcome.

Beginning Monday, Emily Greenstein, mother of kindergartner Ruby, will be sending gently used clothing to the Starfish Foundation, an organization supporting refugees on the Greek Islands. The Starfish Foundation is based in Lesvos, the Greek island where most of the boats transporting refugees from Syria and other conflict-torn countries are landing.

There will be two drop-off boxes at Amigos in the main office. Please consider donating gently used clothing next week from Monday, November 9th to Friday, November 13th.

The most-needed items are:
*clothes for kids ages 10-14
*warm winter scarves, hats, gloves/mittens
*blankets
*socks (all sizes)
*men's and women's shoes
*rain jackets/ponchos
*men's pants
*sweat pants (all sizes)
*sleeping bags
