Estimadas Familias:
¡El trabajo estudiantil y académico va viento en popa! Los estudiantes están ocupados aprendiendo y realizando actividades muy interesantes. El Consejo Escolar de Amigos se reunió esta semana y se enorgullece en anunciar que el apoyo con el aprendizaje académico en casa y en la escuela será el área de enfoque para la iniciativa del distrito de Compromiso Familiar. Trabajaremos junto al equipo de Compromiso Familiar de la ciudad para desarrollar un plan de acción y resultados deseados.
También estamos implementando diligentemente la matriz de comportamiento escolar. Uno de los enfoques es el comportamiento de los estudiantes en los pasillos. Se espera que todo estudiante camine en los pasillos y en las escaleras y mantenga sus materiales y trabajos escolares en sus casilleros. Esperamos se unan a nuestros esfuerzos de crear y fomentar un ambiente seguro y respetuoso en nuestros pasillos y las áreas comunes.
La Escuela Amigos y el Museo de Peabody en Harvard están trabajando en una nueva colaboración. Los estudiantes del octavo grado están fabricando altares en la clase de Arte en honor a la celebración mexicana del Día de los Muertos. Éstos serán expuestos en el Museo Peabody de Harvard. Los estudiantes de segundo grado están ayudando a los de octavo haciendo calaveras que formarán parte de los altares. La inauguración para las familias del 8vo se celebrará el 1ro de noviembre de 1:00 a 1:15 pm. Luego, las familias podrán quedarse en el museo para participar de las actividades que ofrece esa tarde. Sin embargo, exhortamos a todos a que visiten el museo durante el mes de noviembre para ver el trabajo de nuestros talentosos estudiantes.

Dear Families:
Things are in full swing here at Amigos! Students are busy learning and there are a lot of interesting activities going on. Our Amigos School Council met this week and is pleased to announce that our area of focus for Family Engagement this year will be Helping families support learning at home and at school. We will work with the City-wide Family Engagement Team to develop a plan of action and a desired impact.
We are also working diligently to implement our school-wide behavior matrix with students. One area we are working on in particular is the hallway. We ask that students always walk in the hallways and stairwells, and work to keep their belongings in their lockers or cubbies. We hope that you will be able to join us in our efforts to create safe and respectful hallways by talking about this expectation with your children.
A new collaboration is taking place this year between the Peabody Museum in Harvard and the Amigos school. Eighth grade students are making altars in art class in honor of the Mexican tradition of Day of the Dead and they will be exhibited in the Peabody Museum in Harvard. Second graders are helping by making the "calaveras" (skulls) for the eighth grader's altars. Eighth graders are going to have a ribbon cutting ceremony to open up their exhibition on November 1st from 1-1:15pm. Families are welcome to stay in the museum after the opening for their day of the dead activities. However, everyone is welcome to visit the museum throughout November to see our talented student's work.
