Rollin’ and Summer Resources This Saturday (March 1)

Believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about summer! All K-8 families are invited to attend the Rollin’ & Summer Resources event to learn more about the opportunities available to students. There will be food, music, and roller skating. Transportation is available.
Registration is required for transportation. Event registration is recommended but not required.
- When: This Saturday, March 1 | 1 - 4PM
- 1 - 2:30PM: Priority* families’ needs will be centered to provide them with additional time, attention, and space
- 2:30 - 4PM: All families are welcome!
- Where: Cambridge Street Upper School/King Open Community Complex (located at 830 Cambridge Street)
*Priority families include, but are not limited to, families of color, families enrolled in public assistance programs or experiencing being unhoused, have a student with disabilities, or preferred language in not English.

DESE District and School Report Cards
Every year, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) publishes district and school report cards, which are designed to demonstrate how a school or district is performing. Report cards highlight a school or district's strengths, as well as the challenges that need to be addressed to ensure that the needs of all students are being met.

DHSP Summer Camps and Programs Lottery Closes Next Monday! (March 3)
The city’s Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) Summer Camps and Programs Lottery application is open now through Monday, March 3.

About DHSP Summer Camps and Programs:
- All DHSP Camps and Programs operate Monday through Friday, 8:30AM - 5:30PM.
- Families can choose from sessions between June 30 – August 15 (closed July 4)
- Cost is based on family size and income.
Apply online no later than Monday, March 3. (Please note that families with multiple children only need to complete one application.)

Scholarship Opportunities
Cambridge Rindge and Latin Scholarship Portal – open to grade 12 students now through Monday, March 3!
City of Cambridge Scholarship Fund – open to all grade 12 students and Cambridge residents who wish to pursue post-secondary education. Applications close Monday, March 3.
- Interested residents may apply online and obtain appropriate signatures before submitting it for consideration.
- Questions and requests for paper applications via mail can be directed to the Finance Department at 617.349.4220 or [email protected].

CRLS Students Shine in National Chinese Essay Contest

Each year, the Chinese Language Association of Secondary Elementary Schools (CLASS) hosts a national Chinese essay contest open to students in grades K-12. This year, the committee received over 1,000 essay submissions from students across the United States. We’re proud to share that three CRLS Chinese language students received national recognition for their submissions.

High “Steaks” for RSTA at State ProStart Invitational

Congratulations to the RSTA Culinary Team on earning 2nd place at the
17th Annual Massachusetts ProStart Invitational (MAPSI) at Gillette Stadium earlier this month. The MAPSI allows high school teams to compete in either the management or culinary portion of the competition. RSTA took on the culinary competition where they prepared a starter, entrée, and dessert along with a prepared menu.
Members of the Culinary team also received the following recognitions:
Saridia Wright: 3rd place in Cake Decorating
Jahsmine Son: The Kitchen Boss Award and Social Media Award
Izzy Bettencourt: 1st place in Mocktail Mixology Contest
Last but not least, congratulations to Chef Rick McKinney on being awarded Massachusetts ProStart Educator of the Year!
