Good evening CPS Community:

December has flown by! As we look towards the start of Winter Break, I encourage all families to attend our Community Social this Thursday from 5:30 - 7:30PM at the Cambridge Street Upper School Cafeteria. This will be a great opportunity for us to connect, celebrate the year, and look towards what we can accomplish together as we enter 2025. Members of our CPS website improvement team will be stationed at the event to gather feedback on our current website. We hope you’ll stop by and provide insight on how to ensure the website is user-friendly, accessible, and meets the needs of all of our families.

Families with students in elementary school are invited to attend a virtual elementary curriculum caregiver seminar hosted by the English Language Arts Department this Wednesday. Learn more about the CKLA curriculum and register today.

As a reminder, the Kindergarten Lottery will open January 2 and close on January 31. Families with a child who will be five years old by August 31, 2025 are encouraged to apply.

Last week, I shared an update regarding a change to the school year calendar for 2024-25. As a result of this change, this Friday is a 4-hour school day for all students and there will be no school on Monday, December 23. Please note that this is the final issue of the CPS Connect for 2024. Our next issue will be on January 6, 2025!

Second Annual School-Community Partnerships Gathering

Partnership Gathering

Family liaisons, community outreach workers, educators, public health practitioners and all sorts of Out-of-School Time (OST) and community program leaders came together for the second annual School-Community Partnership Gathering last week. Together, they centered on fostering collaboration between the elementary, middle, and high school providers, addressing shared obstacles while building sustainable solutions, and sharing tools and best practices to strengthen networks and connections.

The energy was electric as new connections were formed, knowledge was shared, and plans were made, all in support of our Cambridge youth. Feel free to read more about the event in this blog post.
