Good evening CPS Community,

First and foremost, we extend our sincerest congratulations to the Class of 2025, and to all of the CPS educators, staff, and caregivers who supported our amazing students in their educational journey. We are so proud of you! If you did not have the opportunity to attend or to watch either the High School Extension Program or the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School graduation ceremonies, we invite you to view each of them at the links included below.

Also included in this issue of the CPS Connect is a reminder of upcoming community engagement opportunities for the Superintendent Search process. Please review the upcoming schedule of community forums, and a link to the community survey.

Finally, a reminder that there will be no school, next Thursday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.

Next LeaderThe Cambridge School Committee invites the CPS and the greater Cambridge community to a series of community forums to share their hopes, priorities, and perspectives about the future of our schools and the qualities we should seek in our next leader.

Superintendent Search Survey
To ensure that this process reflects the voices of the Cambridge community, the School Committee invites all community members to take a brief online survey to inform leadership qualities and priorities for our next Superintendent.

Congratulations Class of 2025
Last week we celebrated our graduating class during our annual commencement ceremonies.

This group of scholars has worked hard to grow academically and personally, and has done so within our community, classrooms, and with one another. As they transition from students to CRLS Alumni, we know they will continue to achieve. Congratulations to the Class of 2025!

Please note that our school buildings are closed through Monday, September 1. If you have a question over the summer, please see our list of summer contacts (translations coming soon). Staff at your child’s school will be available to answer any questions you may have beginning Monday, August 18.

Free Meals For Youth - Summer Food Program
The Summer Food Program provides free meals to Cambridge residents 18 and under every weekday at parks across the city. The program is available Monday, June 30 – Friday, August 29. Recreational activities including games, sports, and free books from Cambridge Book Bike will be available to young people in addition to their meal.

Get started early at the Summer Food Program Kickoff Event and enjoy free food, face painting, activities, and more!

Library Book Returns
Cambridge Public School librarians are asking for your help: please return all school library books. While we don't charge overdue fines, your timely returns ensure all readers have access to our collection.

Your school librarian will remind students and staff through ParentSquare and other school communications.

Summer Food Program Kickoff Event

Celebrate the start of the Summer Food program with an inflatable obstacle course, games, free “latin soul food”, face painting, music, and more!

Juneteenth Community Celebration
Saturday, June 21 | 2 - 5PM

Margaret Fuller House Parking Lot (71 Cherry Street)
Join a celebratory block party honoring seniors and the history of Juneteenth with The Margaret Fuller House and The Foundry. There will be free lunch, music, and activities!

Early College Student Earns Full Scholarship Lesley University

Congratulations to Luis Vasquez, CRLS student-athlete, graduate, and proud participant in our Early College program through Lesley University. Luis has earned over 6 credits for free and has explored two courses through the program. Lesley University awarded Luis with a full scholarship to the Liberal Arts and Business program. Pictured is the Vasquez family celebrating his acceptance into the program!

Seal of Biliteracy
Congratulations to our Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School students who were awarded the State Seal of Biliteracy. The award recognizes high school graduates who demonstrate high functional and academic levels of proficiency in English and a world language in recognition of having studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages upon graduating.

95 students received a State Seal of Biliteracy, representing 19% of the Senior class, out of those students, 10 received multiple Seals of Biliteracy each for their proficiency in an additional language. 1 student, Rose Ferjuste, achieved full proficiency in French, Haitian Creole, Haitian Sign Language, and American Sign Language Another student, Neva Vuletic, achieved full proficiency in Spanish, Chinese, and Serbian.
