Author Visits

AuthorBJ Novak, author, actor, and comedian, recently visited Cambridgeport School students from Kindergarten through 3rd grade, to share his new book, The Book With No Pictures!. BJ read his new book, “The Book With No Pictures” and answered questions from students in the audience. Liz reports, “Because the kids LOVED the book so much, BJ asked me to read it to the kids as well! This was done to prove the point that WORDS ARE POWERFUL, they can make ANYONE say silly things, in this case- the author, a librarian, perhaps a parent! I really like the message this book sends. While the words are silly, it illustrates (without pictures, no less!) that words are compelling and can have us feel and think things outside of what is happening directly in our lives. Kudos to BJ for writing a self aware book!”. This wonderful opportunity was provided to Cambridge by Harvard Books Store.

Leigh Bardugo
On November 3, the Cambridge Public Library will host Leigh Bardugo. Leigh is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the popular Grisha Trilogy: Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, and Ruin and Rising. She was born in Jerusalem, grew up in Los Angeles, and graduated from Yale University, and has worked in advertising, journalism, and most recently, makeup and special effects. She resides in Hollywood. CRLS librarians, Emily Houston and Mairead Kelly, will be bringing 150 students over to the library to have the opportunity to hear Leigh discuss her writing and work. Students have been checking out Ms. Bardugo books from the CRLS and CPL libraries in preparation for her visit.
