Go Green Challenge 2019

trophies and pencilsThank you to all the elementary classrooms that participated in this year’s Go Green Challenge! It was great seeing all that you are doing to help protect the environment. We hope you are enjoying those pencils made out of recycled newspaper!

Congratulations to this year’s top participating schools!
Morse (1st Place)
Tobin Montessori (2nd Place)
Peabody (3rd Place)

They will each receive a trophy made from reclaimed materials by local artist Bobby Brown.

It’s always neat to see what classrooms are doing in addition to the items listed on the Challenge. Here are a few “Here’s what else we’re doing!” actions:
  • We teach families to recycle at home
  • Keep our heat turned down
  • Reuse snack containers
  • Have nature classes and trips
  • Posted Spanish versions of recycling posters at the cafeteria
  • Celebrated Earth Day with read aloud, discussions on taking care of the planet, and activity
  • Taking care of tools, toys and school property so things get used many times and do not need to be replaced.
  • Filling up paper with writing before getting a new one, using all of the chart paper, re-use posters and more!
Have a little time to fill? Check out these resources!
