CPS Receives National School Board Association Award
Posted on 04/01/2019
On Sunday, March 13, Cambridge Public Schools was among 18 school districts nationwide to receive a Magna Award from the National School Board Association, recognizing exemplary efforts to bring educational equity to public school students. The award recognized the equity-driven Leveling Up initiative, which enrolls all CPS 9th graders in honors-level ELA and History courses.

The program is showing signs of success, with surveys indicating increased numbers of students of all backgrounds planned to take honors courses in future years. As the first cohort of students rises to 11th Grade next school year, we will be watching for an increase in the percentage of students taking Honors and AP courses, as well as the diversity of backgrounds represented in those classrooms.
