CPS Joins White Ribbon Day

white ribbon dayOn February 28, Superintendent Salim, along with CPS faculty and School Committee members joined leaders from the local community in pledging to be part of the solution in ending violence against women and all gender-based violence.

The "White Ribbon Day" kick-off took place at CRLS Fitzgerald Theater, and students from the high school joined in the group photo and pledge to stand against violence.

Among the CPS leaders who attended were School Committee members Emily Dexter, Fred Fantini, Richard Harding and Kathleen Kelley joined with CRLS teachers and Principal Damon Smith. They were joined by the City Manager and other City Officials as well as leaders from the police department and Cambridge Public Health.

white ribbon dayWhite Ribbon Day events continue throughout the week and include City Council proclamation, white ribbon spotlight on City Hall, and a social media campaign with hashag #WRD2017 and #MENDCambMA. The event was led in part by a grassroots group, MENding Cambridge, which brings together men in the community who are committed to ending gender-based violence.
