Media Arts

The CPS Media Arts program offers a wide array of classes and clubs, a work-study program, and media making support for all students. Located in the Media Arts Studio on the CRLS campus, the Media Arts program provides in school and after school media arts education for the district. Completed student work is shown on Cambridge cable channel 98 and the live channel stream, available on Youth View Cambridge, archived at, and screened at our annual Media Fair.

Media Arts Classes
Students may choose media making courses in Digital Film, Media Journalism, and Music Production, from introductory through advanced multi-media production and distribution. Courses offer theory, production and distribution skill development In a highly collaborative environment.

Media Arts Studio After School

  • Clubs
    • Animation: Create your own animations and video art. Experiment with computer animation software, and create projects using hand drawing and stop-motion animation.

    • Audio: Learn to record your own music, podcasts, and tracks. Use ProTools, GarageBand, and shareware to bring your audio ideas to life.

    • Media Journalism: Help produce Youth View Cambridge (YVC), a student news magazine that combines current events with local and school news.

  • Production Assistant Program: Work at the Media Arts Studio after school. Learn how to record and edit school news, sports and events, create station promos and your own special projects.

  • Student Media Resource Center: Drop in to the Media Arts Studio after school for one-on-one support or resources to complete media-related projects for your classes.

  • Internship and Individual Project opportunities are also available.
