Grade 2
Global Geography, Migration, and Justice
In second grade social studies, students continue to learn about geography by reading and creating maps. They begin with their own community and then investigate communities in Africa, in the past and present, by studying maps and artifacts. They consider why people move to different places and learn about “push” and “pull” factors. They analyze the idea that the United States is a “nation of immigrants” and collaborate to explore how people have advocated and can advocate for justice.
