People tend to smile as they walk through the studio. Lines of older children pass by, tutors and their students travel back and forth, families stop to look on their visits to school. Everyone feels part of the project, because it is so alive and inviting. The teachers are especially interested. They see joy and concentrated energy, along with math skills such as: patterns, design, and numeracy, and Language Art skills such as: writing, vocabulary development, and story telling. In this way the studio combines serious intent with a light hearted spirit.
In early June, Betsy graduated. At the celebration in her back yard the teachers presented her with a secret package from the studio!! This thoughtful treasure symbolized their personal and professional support and understanding. What could have meant more? We all had a good laugh at this delightful joke.
