How to Support Learning at Home

Student WritingTeacher-Family Partnerships Are More Important Than Ever
Distance learning will require creativity and collaboration to make an impact on student learning. To support families in your role as supervisors of student learning, CPS teachers will:

  • Communicate about each week’s learning plan and each day’s learning expectations
Provide feedback on student work as frequently as possible
  • Be available to students and families for at least 30-45 minutes per day for group or individual check-ins
  • Integrate IEP, 504 and English Language Learner accommodations into their teaching

What we hope families can do:

  • We know that circumstances may arise that interfere with your plan for learning at home - but we are asking for your help supporting the following:
  • Providing time, space, and learning tools needed to spend 3-4 hours per day on structured and unstructured learning activities
  • Communicating with the school if you need help with technology, supplies, or advice for supporting your child’s learning.
  • Patience and compassion for the hard work it takes for teachers to adopt new practices, and for the strains they may be experiencing in their own home lives
