1, 2, 3, Math!

A large part of math instruction is teaching students to understand and solve story problems. These are math problems that are put into a context. In order for students to solve story problems, they need to make sense of the problem (what is the action or operation solved?), create a representation of the problem (draw or build a model). Our new Math in Focus curriculum supports solving story problems by introducing Bar Modeling. Here are some examples from Grades 2, 3, and 4 of how students are using bar models to solve problems. Save Those Used Books
Our annual Used Book Sale is May 18th - 22nd! We accept gently used books, both children and adult books, fiction and non-fiction! The sale is open to students and the Haggerty community, as well as to our teachers! Book collection begins: Friday, May 15th!



Clean with Purpose this Spring
Spring has sprung, and as you open your windows to let the fresh, warm air in why not also open your pantry, closets and drawers – and donate to Haggerty’s Art Studio.

We are collecting the following items: 
Scrapbooking materials, Stickers, Yarn/embroidery floss, Ribbons, Glitter, Beads, Popsicle sticks, Fabric scraps, Used wrapping paper, Kids magazines, Small wooden scraps, Newspaper, Grocery bags, Plastic bags, Baby food jars, Plastic take-out containers, Toothpicks, Chopsticks, Ziploc bags, and Legos. All donations can be left in the plastic bin outside room 110. Thanks for your support!
