Message from Principal Chad Leith
Dear Morse School Parents and Families,

November is off to a great start at the Morse School! In addition to the great stories featured in the Morse Messenger you received in your inbox this morning, I wanted to share some additional quick updates:

Ms. Headley Out on Family Leave
Beginning next week, Assistant Principal Samantha Headley will be out on family leave. Her son is having surgery that will require him to be out of school for a few weeks and she will be staying home to care for him. During her absence, some of her supervision responsibilities will be covered by Bernadette Peeples, a social-emotional learning consultant who has many years of experience working with youth and families. Most recently, Ms. Peeples served as a Programs and Operations Director at Youth Enrichment Services in Boston, working with a diverse group of youth and families to provide access to leadership activities and outdoor education. Ms. Peeples is excited to be helping out at the Morse School during Ms. Headley’s leave as well as getting to support our children during the school day.

Mold Remediation Update
I am excited to report that workers have completed most of the remediation work resulting from the water intrusion and mold we discovered at the beginning of the school year. Walls and flooring have been replaced and new insulation installed on pipes that had suffered from excess condensation. Yesterday, an environmental contractor conducted air testing throughout the building. I will share results when they come in next week. In the meantime, it appears that mother nature will once again present us with a weekend opportunity to check on whether the roofers have successfully identified all leaks!

Election Day Bake Sale
Many thanks to the parents who donated baked goods and staffed the Friends of Morse election day bake sale table! The sale raised nearly $800, which will be used to support teaching, learning and community events at the Morse School. If you are interested in contribute to planning for upcoming fundraising and community events, please consider attending our next Friends of Morse meeting this Tuesday (11/13) from 6:30-8:00 in the Morse School library!

Best wishes for a wonderful long weekend!
