Letter From Nancy
Dear Haggerty Families: It seems impossible that we have come to the end of another school year! Thank you for a great year. I know you join me in thanking the Haggerty faculty for their ongoing efforts and tireless work in educating your children. They go above and beyond, every day, to make sure they reach each student. They are driven to see each and every child succeed. It’s an honor to work with a faculty with the level of compassion and commitment found here at Haggerty. Read more >>

Field Day

Field Day Fun
On Monday, June 13th the whole school traveled to Glacken Field for our annual Field Day, directed by our PE Teacher Mr. Materazzo. The JK-2nd grade students were led up Cushing Street by a 5th grade marching band - led by Ms. Irving-Kent. In the morning the younger students made their way through the fun-filled stations, and the older kids followed suit in the afternoon. We appreciate all the MANY parent volunteers that helped to make this fun day possible!

BBQ

Centennial Potluck/BBQ!
On Wednesday, June 15th the whole Haggerty School Community, past and present, gathered together on our beautiful new playground to officially end our Centennial School Year. It was quite the celebration! There was live entertainment by Bill Kubicek, his sister Laurie and Kimberly, as well as some talented Haggerty alumni. A big shout out to the Harp Family who ran the photo booth! There was also face painting, bean bag throwing, duck pond fishing, bubble blowing, water balloon throwing, and ring tossing! We had free hot dogs, hamburgers, and birthday cake and many families brought food to share! Joe Petner and Nancy Campbell gave lovely speeches that reinforced the strength our school has had in this community for the past 100 years! Thanks to the entire Centennial committee for making this benchmark year so special!

The Haggerty School library extends a huge “Thank You” to our faithful parent volunteers: Lina Yu Harp, Caitlin Roberts, and Kimberly Peters. They help to get the constant flow of books back on the shelves every week! Thank you!

Meet Ms. Andrea Gaudette, your music teacher next year! She’s a composer and pianist who also works at Cambridgeport. You’ll have music once a week, instead of four times. If you want more music, you can always join Haggerty Chorus, which rehearses with Ms. Irvin-Kent in the mornings before school. Have a great summer!

Fifth Grade

5th Graders Moving On from Haggerty!
On Friday, June 17th our fifth graders remembered their time at the Haggerty School in a Moving-On Assembly. Our 30 fifth graders broke up into groups of 4 or 5 and presented a slide show of their favorite memories from each grade - kindergarten through fifth grade! Highlights included apple picking in kindergarten, visiting the Moakley Court House in second grade, scavenger hunting in Chinatown in fourth grade, and visiting the Farm School in fifth grade!

Haggerty

A Note from Robin Leed
Dear Haggerty Families,

It is with mixed emotions that I send this message. I am moving to Georgetown with my fiancé this summer and have recently accepted a new position teaching art in the DC Public Schools. Haggerty is a special place and I feel blessed to have been able to teach your children the last 4 years. I couldn’t have done this job without your donations of art materials and time hanging art. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation for all of your support.

Best wishes to you.

Sincerely,

Robin Leed

HAGGERTY FUN RUN
On Sunday, June 12th we held our first annual Haggerty Fun Run! Approximately 30 children and grown-ups, families and staff members, met at the Water Building at Fresh Pond and either walked, ran, scootered or biked around. It was fun for all! Thanks to Ranger Jean for the bananas and water left over from Fresh Pond Day! Let's plan to do this again next year, maybe in May - when it is less busy! Thanks to parent Doug Brown for obtaining the permit to hold the run!
