Run-Up to the Mayfair Has Been Extended

Testing

AP Exams begin on Monday, May 2 until Friday, May 13
It is extremely important you are on time to your exam.   Report times for most exams in the morning is 7:15AM and for afternoon exams 11:30AM. Also bring your signed permission slip to your first exam. If you are unsure as to where and when your exam is, ask AP teacher, guidance counselor your Small Learning Community office or with Ms. Madden in room 2317. View the Schedule >>

Walk/Bike Day
Please join us Wednesday, May 4th as we celebrate Massachusetts Walk and Bike to School Day!
Take some time out to promote health, safety, and the environment by biking or walking to school with your child. Cambridge Arts

8th Annual Cambridge Arts Open Studios
Saturday, May 14 - 15 | 12Noon - 6PM
This citywide celebration of Cambridge-based art brings the public inside the artistic process and creates a wonderful opportunity for artists to promote their work. Volunteers needed to:

  • Poster the main squares in Cambridge (Harvard, Porter, and Central) on May 11th and work 2-hour shifts from 1-3PM and 3-5PM on May 14th and 15th. 
  • Be assistants at each Common Venue (Cadbury Commons, Cambridge College, Lesley University, Ice Cream Factory Lofts) to answer questions and pass out brochures. The shift times are 12Noon - 3PM and 3 - 6PM on May 14th and 15th.

Draper

Draper Summer Internships
Draper High School Photo Digitization Internship for Rising Juniors & Seniors in a Cambridge-based high school
Draper is offering 10 positions as part of a six-week paid internship to rising juniors/seniors who attend high schools located in Cambridge. The students will work on a film digitization project under the supervision of Draper's Strategic Communication Operations Manager. They will be responsible for scanning photographic film from the company's archives, archiving images, updating the database, cataloging assets, and performing other related duties as required.

Fresh Pond

Volunteer at Fresh Pond Day
June 11, 2016 | 11AM - 3PM
Fresh Pond Day is the Cambridge Water Department's annual tribute to this unique Reservation that is a vital natural resource, an invaluable sanctuary for wildlife, and a beloved recreational escape in the City. So...let's give Fresh Pond the celebration, jubilation and love it deserves; join in the festivities! Live wildlife presentations, a wildlife and bike parade, live music, face painting, truck climb-aboards, tours, and more will abound. Free and open to all, the festivities will take place in and around the Water Treatment Facility located at 250 Fresh Pond Parkway, Cambridge. Please note: rain or other inclement weather cancels this event.
 
We’ll need a hand with running a face painting table, photography, helping to coordinate wildlife & bike parades, assisting tablers, set-up/take-down, & directing parking and traffic. As a thank-you for your help, you’ll receive a Fresh Pond t-shirt, water bottle, and refreshments! 2-hour or 4-hour shifts. Please email us or call 617.349.6489 if you’re interested in volunteering.

Breakthrough

Volunteer with Breakthrough
Breakthrough Greater Boston is looking for CRLS students to be Academic Mentors for our middle school students. Academic Mentors are paired with a student for an entire semester, and Mentors work with their student one-on-one to develop study skills in core academic subjects. Interested? Clubz

Club Z! Offers One-on-One Tutoring and SAT/ACT prep in the Student’s Home
Club Z! provides tutoring in all subjects (K-12) including SAT/ACT exam prep. Our number one goal is to raise grades in the classroom. Our qualified tutors work with the student’s school curriculum, instead of a predetermined program that may not relate to current class work. Club Z! tutors also teach effective study skills thus helping students learn “smarter”. For more information please visit us online.


Upward Bound

The MIT/Wellesley Upward Bound Program is currently recruiting CRLS 
9th & 10th graders. 
Upward Bound Program provides after school tutoring during the school year and a six-week residential summer program at Wellesley College. The program also offers academic support and college preparation guidance including college tours and senior seminars. Both the school year and summer session offer various recreational and cultural activities and field trips. TeenWork Program
The Just-A-Start TeenWork program is a student employment program which provides job readiness preparation, resume preparation training, job shadowing internships, and after-school and/or summer job opportunities for Cambridge teenagers at local businesses. We work with Cambridge youth ages 16-21 who have not yet begun their 2nd year of college. Enrollment is always open. Get Involved with FOCA
There are many opportunities for parent engagement at CRLS and the Friends of Cambridge Athletics (FOCA) supports many aspects of this process for the athletics program. Participation is simple and there are many volunteer opportunities. Areas range from FOCA events to serving as parent liaison to teams. To learn more about our work and to get involved visit our website, send an email, or just come to one of our meetings held the 2nd Tuesday of the month in the Athletics office 6 - 7:30PM.

FOCA Seeks Parent Volunteer to Support 'Falcon-Wear' Store
FOCA has developed a line of CRLS-branded clothing that is available online, through a portable cart at athletic competitions, and in the school store by the CRLS entry. We now seek a parent to help manage the sales process and promotion. Time requirement is 2 - 4 hours/week. Some retail experience helpful. Interested? Contact: Larry Childs.

Gap Year Program in Portland, Oregon

The Tivnu Gap Year program is nine months of hands-on Jewish social justice engagement. Participants live together, create community, discover the Pacific Northwest, and explore connections between Jewish life and social justice with their heads, hands, and hearts.
