Goals for Martin Luther King School Graduates

Our school is named after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King dedicated his life to certain values and standards that continue to inspire us in our work with our school and community. Our goals for the graduates from the King School are as follows:

  • Our graduates believe that anyone can achieve greatness.
  • They strive to achieve at the highest levels, no matter what their undertaking, knowing that this takes self-discipline, determination, persistence and a commitment to their personal dream.
  • Our graduates are respectful, thoughtful, compassionate members of their community, be it a class, a school, a city, or a nation.
  • They value people’s differences and the diversity of our community, actively practice tolerance, and treat all people with respect.
  • Our graduates believe in the power of the individual to make positive change in their world through non-violence.
  • They are committed to practicing the power of love over hate, to standing up for what they believe in, to being peacemakers, and to act with courage.
  • Our graduates are life-long learners.
  • They know the importance of deep, critical thinking and taking the kind of risks that expand their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.
