Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO)
The PTO is a group of parents and teachers who host community building
events, such as school-wide potlucks, parent workshops, bake sales, and
an annual teacher appreciation luncheon. This group is open to all parents
and teachers and meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 8:00 AM.
Arts Council:
The Arts Council is a group of parents and teachers who focus on enhancing the presence of arts in the Haggerty Community. They host an annual "Celebration of the Arts and Talent Show," which includes an art display from each classroom and a chance for students to display their talent. The Arts Council also helps support our art teacher in the classroom as well as hang student's artwork around the building. They also assist our librarian with the many author and artists she has visiting with the Haggerty students throughout the year. Typically the Arts Council has tried to do a physical art legacy project each year. In past years, these legacy projects have included the many banners hanging in the gym, the mural in the cafeteria, the tile mosaic in the basement, and the bench in the garden. The Arts Council meets with the PTO on the second Tuesday of the month at 8:00 AM.
Special Needs Advisory Board (SNAC):
This group was started as a support group for parents of children with
special needs. They meet once a month to discuss individual issues
as well as relevant issues in the special needs community. This year
they
have
an incredible list of outside speakers who are coming to present to
the group on a variety of topics, for example, the laws the govern
non-discrimination
and insurance.
