1. Human Body Systems Student Site
You'll love this website, simply because it's so organized. Whenever you need
a refresher on some vocabulary, or if you're looking for some information
on a particular body system, go to this site. It's also
a great resource to refer to when your students need to review for a test
on the human body system.
2. Inner Body Animations
This website will knock your socks off. Again, you just click on the
human body system you want to explore, and it will take you to another page
where you can click on a body part, and it will define the function of the
body part. It also has it's own search engine,
where you can just type in a word in the search box, and it'll
search through the website, and find the definition you need. The animations
are cool too. Top notch, no doubt. It's also
very easy to navigate through.
3. The Real
Deal on the Digestive System
Simply straight-forward information on the digestive system, which includes
functions of organs, how they work, location, and diagrams of what they look
like. Another great site that kids can use for test review.
Excellent site for upper grade students, especially 4-8th graders.
4. A Look Inside the
Human Body
Great site for older children, especially 6-8th graders because it has more
details in the explanations of the body systems. The diagrams of the organs
and skeletons all have labels, and the skeleton diagram even has each scientific
bone name with its regular everyday bone name.
5.
Habits of the Heart
Simply the best! I love the animations in this site. The pumping heart showing
blood going through the chambers was so easy to follow, and they used different
colors to distinguish oxygen rich blood from carbon dioxide rich blood going
through the chambers. It even has an online test to see how well you remember
the processes that occur in each body system. The heart surgery videos should
be viewed with discretion due to images of graphic nature, which may not be
suitable for young children.
6. Heart
Rate Monitor
Calculating your heartrate will give you an idea of whether or not you're
pushing your heart hard enough, so that you know you're
getting the full benefits of the exercise you're doing.
Keep track of the data using this cool modification of a regular heartrate
monitor into a lego mindstorms heartrate monitor, and you'll
be able to graph your data using the program you can download from this site.
7. How to Transplant
a Heart in 19 Easy Steps!
This webpage was not available, but the Nova site has an awesome listing
of all their videos, and teacher's guides, which you can
purchase. Also, you can watch video clips online, and find out what
the topic of the show is going to be about for the following week.
