Welcome New Assistant Superintendent for Student Services

alexisOn April 11, the Cambridge School Committee confirmed Dr. Alexis Morgan as CPS Assistant Superintendent for Student Services. This selection follows a national search and recruitment process led by NESDEC, and candidate screening and interviews by a 12-member committee that included CPS parents, teachers, and school and district administrators.

Alexis has extensive administrative leadership and teaching experience in the field of special education, having previously served as Executive Director of Instructional Supports for the Office of Special Education in Newark Public Schools, and Systems Transformation Consultant for the Education Development Center: Urban Special Education Leadership Collaborative.

Having recently completed her Ed.L.D. from Harvard Graduate School of Education, Dr. Morgan comes to CPS from Vista United School District in California, where she served as High School Redesign Lead, in charge of analyzing and improving programs and services for students with disabilities and English learners. Alexis possesses dual Master degrees, in Special Education from Cheyney University and Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

In announcing her appointment to CPS administrators, Dr. Salim wrote, "I believe that Alexis will bring informed and inspirational leadership to the Office of Student Services and will strive towards the best interests of children and families as she works collaboratively with each of you."

Alexis will be joining CPS this summer, and will continue to work with Jean Spera, who served as our Interim Assistant Superintendent for the past school year.
