Design Lab

Design Lab
The Design Lab provides an opportunity for educators to collaborate on bold ideas that make a difference in the lives of students. By using design thinking matched with an entrepreneurial mindset, we collectively transform ideas into solutions. The lab serves as a new model for the way we impact learning by focusing on student-centered design.

Educators want to create solutions to existing challenges. The Design Lab validates educators’ insights and provides a means to experiment with transformative design. It enables shared power, highlights teachers as innovators, and creates a mechanism for on-going innovation.

It also capitalizes on educators’ experiences, expertise, and passions by changing the way in which problems are identified and addressed. This iterative process involves gathering information about educational issues, developing possibilities, and evolving them into viable solutions. These potential solutions are tried in various classrooms and afterschool programs in the community.

Design LabThe Design Lab reframes the way we look at educational problems as a community. It encourages us to see problems as opportunities and to collectively find solutions together. It promotes partnerships between schools and their communities and represents a powerful system for local, sustainable innovation.

Design Lab Mission:
